Recently, 64 FAW Jiefang “Tiger 6G” high-end light trucks were shipped from Jimo District to the Philippines, marking the first batch delivery of this model in the Southeast Asian market.
Of these vehicles, 32 are cargo trucks, and 32 are dump trucks, specifically designed for the low-emission market. They are equipped with a 4.2L large-displacement mechanical pump engine, combining high cost-effectiveness with superior load-bearing capacity.
This overseas expansion is not accidental. In the Philippine market, Jiefang light trucks have maintained stable sales of over 2,000 units for two consecutive years, becoming one of the preferred brands trusted by local users.

“The success of Jiefang light trucks in the Philippine market stems from a deep understanding of local user needs and a high degree of product adaptation,” said Wang Hao, Director of the Light Vehicle Product Management Office of FAW Jiefang’s Overseas Product Line. He added that this batch of low-emission “Tiger 6G” trucks was completed from planning to trial assembly in just three months, a feat made possible by the R&D and manufacturing capabilities and rapid response of the Jimo base.
FAW Jiefang’s Jimo base is a crucial pillar in Qingdao’s automotive industry landscape. As a key production base for FAW Jiefang commercial vehicles and new energy light trucks, this area boasts a complete industrial chain encompassing R&D, manufacturing, and parts supply.
In recent years, leveraging the manufacturing advantages and technological accumulation of the Jimo base, FAW Jiefang’s overseas light truck sales have repeatedly reached new highs: exceeding 5,000 units in 2023, climbing to 11,000 units in 2024, and surpassing 14,000 units in 2025.
In the South African market, light truck sales reached 2,700 units in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 130%; in the Myanmar market, orders jumped from over a hundred units in 2024 to over a thousand units in 2025, and a large order for 700 units was secured in March 2026. From Southeast Asia to Africa, FAW Jiefang’s overseas footprint continues to expand, currently forming a global R&D layout of “four countries and nine locations,” with exports covering more than 100 countries and regions worldwide.
The Jimo District has proposed to support the full-scale mass production of FAW Jiefang’s micro-truck project in 2026. With the full-scale production of the micro-truck project and the continuous introduction of new models, FAW Jiefang’s Jimo base will further optimize its production capacity and product portfolio.
“We will continue to cultivate overseas markets, leveraging the R&D and manufacturing advantages of the Jimo base to launch more light truck products adapted to the needs of different global markets, allowing ‘Qingdao Manufacturing’ to go further and more steadily on the international stage.”
