FAW Jiefang’s breakthrough in power domain technology

The launch of new technologies and products in FAW Jiefang’s intelligent powertrain domain fully demonstrates FAW Jiefang’s continuous development towards high-end, green, and intelligent technologies. In the oil and gas intelligent powertrain domain, the company released two products, the GS280 and GD300. The GS280 comprises a 15L6SV3 natural gas engine, a T-shift transmission, a lightweight 440mm axle, and an IPU domain control software platform, representing a cumulative breakthrough in 28 core technologies.

Nine of these hardware features are industry-firsts. The engine achieves ultra-high compression ratio combustion technology for natural gas engines, achieving a thermal efficiency of 42.5% and a B10 lifespan of 2 million kilometers. The transmission boasts an overall efficiency exceeding 98.5%, and the drive axle boasts an overall efficiency of 98.1%. In terms of domain control software, seven unique technologies are included, including intelligent energy conservation, intelligent maintenance, and intelligent safety software.

The GD300 is comprised of a 13L6DV1 diesel engine, a T-shift transmission, a lightweight 440mm axle, and the IPU domain control software platform. The engine boasts a mass-produced thermal efficiency exceeding 50%. The IPU domain control software shares a common platform with natural gas, addressing challenges such as the complex structure of diesel aftertreatment systems and significant thermal management fuel consumption losses. It has achieved breakthroughs in eight software technologies, three of which are industry firsts. Currently, the oil and gas intelligent powertrain products are fully integrated into the J7, Eagle Road, JH6, and J6V models and have been launched, earning the unanimous trust of logistics users and drivers.

In terms of new energy intelligent powertrain products, FAW Jiefang has comprehensively deployed products across the pure electric E-platform, hybrid H-platform, and hydrogen F-platform powertrains. This announcement highlights the ER260 and EE270, two pure electric E-platform powertrain products.

The ER260, centered around an electric drive axle, consists of a single-pack bottom-mounted battery, a heavy-duty electric drive axle, and an IPU domain control software platform. It incorporates 20 core technological achievements, including six industry-first hardware technologies. The electric drive axle features breakthroughs in high-efficiency, oil-cooled flat-wire motor technology, achieving an efficiency exceeding 90%, with an overall efficiency of 90.6%. The domain control software incorporates four unique intelligent, reliable, and energy-saving technologies.

The EE270, centered around an electric drive box, consists of a side-mounted battery, a heavy-duty electric drive box, a drive axle, and an IPU domain control software platform. It leverages the ER260 domain control software technology and further advances 10 hardware technologies, three of which are industry firsts. The system utilizes dual motors and dual fourth-gear power decoupling technology, achieving a system efficiency of 92%. It can climb hills without slipping under heavy loads, and the electric drive box allows for quick start at -30°C with no speed limit. FAW Jiefang has fully established independent production capabilities for the entire electric drive and battery system chain, innovating a multi-operating condition simulated end-of-line testing system and an automatic manufacturing quality assessment system to ensure optimal product quality.

This year, the new energy intelligent power domain product will be fully launched on models such as the J6L, J6P, and JH6. It boasts an industry-leading power consumption per 100 kilometers of over 5%, and a lifespan of the key B10 assembly of 2 million kilometers.
