Jiefang Power has undergone three stages of development: from the initial “electronic control era,” to the second phase, the “powertrain era,” and finally the “smart power domain era.” Today’s “Jiefang Smart Power Domain” has formed an integrated architecture, deeply integrating the powertrain with scenario requirements, vehicle functions, connected vehicle big data, and intelligent over-the-air (OTA). Building on the powertrain hardware foundation, a software platform centered on intelligence, coordinated control, self-adaptation, and digital twin technologies interacts in real time with Jiefang’s proprietary cloud-based big data platform, truly achieving an integrated “driver-vehicle-road-cloud” environment and providing users with highly intelligent, reliable, and low-cost green smart power solutions.
Look to Jiefang for great power! In July 2025, FAW Jiefang launched four new smart power domain products—the GS280 and GD300 oil and gas smart power domains, and the ER260 and EE270 new energy smart power domains—marking another leap forward in its technological strength.
1. GS280 Natural Gas Power Domain: “G” stands for “conventional energy,” “S” for “low-carbon natural gas,” and “280” for “engine torque of 2800 Nm.” This product boasts nine industry-first hardware technologies, including: ultra-high compression ratio combustion technology, achieving an industry-leading thermal efficiency of 42.5%; high-temperature-resistant cylinder head and exhaust system technology, ensuring a B10 lifespan of 2 million kilometers; low-loss reducer lubrication technology, achieving a drive axle overall efficiency of 98.1%; and high-strength steel cold-stamped axle housing technology, resulting in a drive axle weight 90 kg lighter than the industry average.
2. The GD300 diesel engine, with the G standing for “traditional energy,” the D for “low-carbon diesel,” and the 300 for “3000 Nm engine torque,” shares the same technology platform as the GS280 engine. Utilizing ultra-high compression ratio combustion and ultra-low friction technologies, it achieves a mass-produced thermal efficiency exceeding 50%. In terms of software, the IPU domain control software overcomes eight technical challenges, three of which are industry firsts: AMT gearshift-assisted exhaust temperature management technology, which helps improve fuel efficiency by 3%; DPF sensorless regeneration technology, which enhances the driver’s experience; and dual closed-loop ammonia storage and nitrogen oxide technology, which reduces the risk of urea crystallization by half.
3. The ER260 pure electric powertrain domain product: “E” stands for “pure electric,” “R” for “electric drive axle,” and “260” for “electric drive peak torque of 26,000 Nm.” This product incorporates 20 core technologies covering software, hardware, batteries, and domain control software. In terms of hardware, breakthroughs in high-strength integrated cast axle housing technology make the electric drive axle 60 kg lighter than the industry average; and breakthroughs in high-efficiency oil-cooled flat wire motor technology help improve the overall efficiency and lifespan of the electric drive axle. In terms of batteries, the product achieves breakthroughs in single-pack, high-capacity, bottom-mounted battery technology, enabling the vehicle to achieve an industry-leading turning radius of less than 8.2 meters. Furthermore, breakthroughs in high-strength steel battery pack insulation ensure that even if the vehicle remains stationary at -20°C for 12 hours, the battery does not need to be heated. It is reported that the ER260 pure electric powertrain will be launched this year on models including the J6L, J6P, and JH6.
4. The EE270 pure electric powertrain features three industry-first hardware technologies: dual-motor, dual-fourth-gear power decoupling technology, achieving a system efficiency of 92%, ensuring the vehicle can climb hills without slipping even when loaded; low-temperature rapid cold start technology for the electric powertrain, ensuring rapid start-up and unrestricted speed in extremely cold conditions of -30°C; and high-torque energy recovery drive axle technology, saving over 2 kWh of electricity per 100 km. It is expected that this product will enter the market in the second half of the year with models such as Jiefang J6L, J6P, and JH6.
