New JH6 Field Challenge | Desert | Plateau | Wetland

The real-scene operation evaluation of the new JH6 is to verify the real performance of this heavy truck in actual operation. We spent three months following the vehicle and recording three real users with different transportation needs, covering various complex road conditions from plains to wetlands, from plateaus to basins.

In real transportation scenarios, the vehicle was subjected to multiple harsh tests such as heavy-load climbing, plateau hypoxia, and extreme cold weather. Each set of data comes from actual operation, and each evaluation comes from the real experience of the driver.

1.
The first 4,000-kilometer journey, driving the new JH6 fully loaded with 49 tons of mechanical equipment, started from the plains and finally arrived at the plateau area at an altitude of 2,500 meters. This horizontal transportation route includes plains, hills, mountains and other terrains, especially when crossing the Tianshan Aiken Daban at an altitude of 3,000 meters, it poses a severe challenge to the vehicle’s power performance and handling stability.

In actual operation, the performance of the new JH6’s AMT gearbox is impressive. On the climbing section, the gearbox always accurately controls the speed in the optimal range of 1200-1300 rpm, which not only ensures sufficient power output but also ensures fuel economy.

2.
7,300 kilometers of vegetable transportation. The vehicle model this time is the LNG model of JH6. This journey from the wetland to the North China Plain of China is not only long and complex, but more importantly, it has extremely high requirements for timeliness, especially the 3,900-kilometer return journey must be completed within 3 days, which places high demands on the vehicle’s power performance and reliability.

On the 7% continuous slope of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the new JH6’s 590-horsepower engine with DP power mode can easily maintain a common speed of 80-90/h.

3.
3,500 kilometers of plateau challenge, this time the altitude suddenly rose from 50 meters to 5231 meters, and the oxygen content was less than half of that on the plains, which was a severe test for the vehicle’s power system.

Even at the Tanggula Pass at an altitude of 5,000 meters, the engine of the new JH6 can still maintain 98% of its torque output. At the same time, the addition of the AEB system effectively improves the safety of the entire vehicle while also fundamentally reducing Master Zhang’s driving fatigue.

In terms of driving comfort, the performance of the four-point suspension system combined with the air shock-absorbing seat exceeded expectations. The driver made a special comparison test: when passing through the same shell pit section, the vibration amplitude of the new JH6 was 30% smaller than that of the car they drove before. The noise in the car is controlled below 65 decibels, and the comfort performance is excellent.

FAW Jiefang’s new challenge will begin in June 2025. This time, the JH6 will be driven to a high-temperature area. This 4,800-kilometer desert road hides three “death checkpoints” that will pose new and higher challenges to the engine cooling system, vehicle power, and vehicle sealing.
