Left turn, move to the right first; right turn, move to the left first.
This is the core logic of semi-trailer turning. When turning left, the cab should move slightly to the right before turning the steering wheel; when turning right, the cab should move slightly to the left first. This is to provide sufficient turning space for the trailer behind, also known as “inner wheel difference” space, allowing the rear wheels to pass smoothly.

Be aware of the “inner wheel difference” position.
Often, even though the cab has turned, the rear wheels may still be on their original trajectory. This is where the “inner wheel difference” can cause problems. Many minor scrapes occur because the cab avoids the obstacle, but the rear wheels fail to do so. Therefore, when turning, the space you see is not only for the cab but also for the rear wheels. Giving the rear wheels more space will make the turn much safer.

Complete the deceleration before entering the curve.
When turning, try to avoid excessive speed, sudden steering, and sudden braking. A safer approach is to reduce speed, engage a suitable gear, and maintain a steady throttle some distance from the turning point. Turn the steering wheel slowly and steadily, giving you enough time to check your rearview mirrors and make timely corrections.

When turning, don’t just focus on the front of the car. What you see in your rearview mirrors is actually more important. If turning left, pay attention to the left rear wheel; if turning right, pay attention to the right rear wheel. As long as the rear wheels don’t cross the edge line or get too close to an obstacle, the front of the car is generally safe. If you find the rear wheels are too close to the curb, slightly straighten the steering wheel and slowly adjust to pass.

Adjust once more when turning on narrow roads for peace of mind.
When encountering narrow sections of road, small entrances, or needing to enter a factory area, don’t rush to turn through in one go. If you feel you can’t pass, stop, reverse slightly, readjust the angle, and then continue. This is normal and responsible. Reversing might only add a minute; but if you force your way through and cause a scratch, the time and effort required to fix it will be much greater.

Pay Attention to These Situations When Turning
When turning, pay attention to a few details: Don’t accelerate through the last few seconds of a green light; don’t turn alongside other vehicles, especially smaller cars; in areas with poor visibility, turn more slowly. Larger vehicles have a larger turning radius and blind spots, so giving others more space will make your own path wider.
